Solution: When you refer to Audio Video, you are talking about Sound and Light. Answer: Sound

22. In a class of 40 children, Sunetra’s rank is eighth from the top. Sujit is five ranks below Sunetra. What is Sujit’s rank from the bottom?

(a) 27           (b) 29           (c) 28           (d) 26           (e) None of these

Solution: Sunetra’s rank is 8th from the top = 7 people are above her. Sujit is five ranks below Sunetra which puts him at 13th rank. As there are 40 children, his rank from bottom will be 28th (40-13+1). Answer: 28

23. How many such numerals are there in the number 2576489, which will remain at the same position when arranged in ascending order from left to right?

(a) One        (b) Two         (c) Three      (d) None       (e) None of these

Solution:

2        4        5        6        7        8        9

2, 6, 8, 9 stay at the same place. Answer: None of these

24. In a certain code ‘DESCRIBE’ is written as ‘FCJSDTFE’. How will ‘CONSIDER’ be written in that code?

(a) SFEJTOPD        (b) SEFJTOPD        (c) QFETJOPD       (d) QEFJTOPD       (e) None of these

Solution: DESCRIBE when reversed becomes EBIRCSED. Add 1 to all to get the next letter which is the code FCJSDTFE. Hence, CONSIDER reversed will be REDISNOC. Taking next letters we will get the code. Answer: SFEJTOPD

25. Four of the following five are alike in a certain way and so form a group. Which is the one that does not belong to the group?

(a) Shampoo           (b) Talcum Powder (c) Hair Oil   (d) Cosmetics                   (e) Soap

Solution: Shampoo, Talcum Powder, Hair Oil, and Soap are types of cosmetics. Cosmetics is a generic term covering all these. Answer: Cosmetics

26. Four of the following five are alike in a certain way and so form a group. Which is the one that does not belong to the group?

(a) Jasmine  (b) Rose       (c) Dahlia     (d) Marigold (e) Lotus

Solution: Lotus grows in water (aquatic plant). Answer: Lotus

27. ‘Jackal’ is related to ‘Carnivorous’ in the same way as ‘Goat’ is related to

(a) Omnivorous      (b) Carnivorous      (c) Herbivorous      (d) Multivorous      (e) None of these

Solution: Jackal is carnivorous (meat eater). Goat eats plants and other herbal material. Answer: Herbivorous.

Solution: Iron is a metal (element) whereas Brass is an alloy made of copper and zinc. Answer: Alloy

29. In a row of children, Neeta is fifteenth from the left end of the row. If she is shifted towards the right end of the row by four places, she becomes eighth from the right end. How many children are there in the row?

(a) 27           (b) 26           (c) 28           (d) 24           (e) None of these

Solution: Neeta is 15th from the left hence 14 people are on her left side. She is shifted right side by 4 places. In her new place, she is 8th from the right side meaning 7 people on her right side.

____14____ Neeta -> ___18___ Neeta ___7___ -> 26 in total. Answer: 26

30. Four of the following five are alike in a certain way and so form a group. Which is the one that does not belong to the group?

(a) Van        (b) Truck      (c) Cargo      (d) Trolley    (e) Tempo

Solution: Van, Truck, Trolley, Tempo are used to move goods/products from one place to another. Cargo are goods or produce transported using various means. Answer: Cargo
