Solutions:

1. Sum of all 5 digits is 15. If we remove 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, the corresponding sums will be 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, and 10. So, 15 and 12 will work. 5! + 4*4! = 216. Option c.

2. Let 1 man do 1 unit of work per hour. Work done in 25 days will be 25*8*105 = 25*840. This is nothing but 2/5th of the total work. So, the remaining work will be 3/2*25*840. We have 25 days to do this and one person has to work for 9 hours a day. So, 3/2*25*840/25*1/9 = 140 and so, we need 35 more men. Option c.

Observe that I haven’t simplified the expression at all. That is simply because the answer options are integers and so, I can be sure of some cancellation. Remember that the more you calculate, the more are the chances of making silly errors.

3. Let total units be 24. A does 3 units per day and B negates 8 units per day. In the first 4 days, A will build 12 units, in the next 2 days, A will build 6 units and B will destroy 16 units. So, effectively, 2 units are built an so, the remaining 22 units will be built by A in 22/3 days. Option d.

4. a + ar = 12

ar^2 + ar^3 = 48

a(1 + r) = 12

ar^2(1 + r) = 48

r = +/- 2

If r = 2, the series will be 4, 8, 16 …

If r = -2, the series will be -12, 24, -48 …

So, option c.

5. The numbers should add up to 7 and so, option d is out.

(a – 6)^2 + (b – 6)^2 + 4 + 1 + 16 = 6.8 * 5

(a – 6)^2 + (b – 6)^2 = 13

a = 3, b = 4 satisfies. Option c.

6. 12.5% commission will be Rs. 1875. Option a.

7. 10.5 * 0.1/{(0.005)*√10} – 20.5 is approximately equal to 46. Option d.

8. 500/66 gives us 250/33 or 7.5x. So, option b.

9. 21/33 = 7/11 = 63.63%. Option a.

10. 16/134 = 8/67 will be slightly greater than 10% and so, option d.

11. 112/1049 is approximately 11%. Option d.

12. 23% corresponds to 1049 and so, 9% corresponds to approximately 410. Option b.

13. 23% corresponds to 1049 and so, 100% will be 104900/23 = 4560 approximately. Option b.

14. 1.26% of all students are Asian. So, 4560*1.25/100 will be 45.6+11.4=approximately 57. So, option d.

15. 5% of total students will be 228. So, 34/228 = approximately 15%. Option d.
