Solutions:

1. It is obvious that the table talks about the failure rates of components and so, hybrid micro circuits are the worst. Option d.

2. Signal devices have a failure rate of 16 and so, 25% higher than that would be 20 which is the failure rate of capacitors. Option b.

3. Option c. As they do not give as many errors as the rest of the components, pictures tubes and signal devices would need minimal or no attention compared to the rest.

4. 30 out of 1000 ICs are faulty and so, 12 out of 400 would be faulty. 20 out of 1000 capacitors are faulty and so, 4.8 components will be faulty and hence, we would need 5 additional capacitors. Only option b satisfies this and so, we need not check for the third component.

5. 9 square meters would correspond to 9*100*100 = 90000 sq.cm. If there is 0.1 mm of rain, we get the total volume to be 90000*0.1*10^(-1) = 900 cu.cm. As we already have a 900 sq.cm base, the height would need to be 1 cm for the required volume. Option d.

6. 15 can be scored in 10 ways (either 5,5,5 or 3,6,6 or 4,5,6). Out of these, 2 cases will begin with a 4 and so, the probability is 1/5. Option b.

7. Option c.

8. The number will be divisible by 4 if the last two digits are either 12, 32, 52, or 24. Total numbers will be 120 and the numbers divisible by 4 will be 24. So, the probability will be 1/5. Option a.

9. Let 19 of the observations be 23 and let the 20th observation be 93. Sum of the observations will be 530 and so, the average will be 26.5. So, option d.

10. 40 g of gold is present. Let the amount of gold added be x. So, (40+x)/(50+x)=9/10. x = 50 g.

11. Let the incomes be 7x and 3x and the expenses be 5y and 2y. So, 7x – 5y = 300 and 3x – 2y = 300. On solving these, we get x = 900 and so, the income of the first person will be Rs. 6300.

12. Let the family take x kg last month. So, they spent Rs. 24x. This month, let the family consume y kg. So, the cost incurred will be Rs. 27y.

As 24x = 27y, we get 8x = 9y. So, (x – y)/x = 100/9%. So, option d is correct.

13. 10c2*2 = 90 tickets in total. Option b.

14. C2 = 1.05*C1. So, r2 = 1.05r1. So, r2^2 = 1.1025 r1^2. Increase by 10.25%. Option b.

15. 3 vowels together. So, 4!*3!/2!. Option d.
