Solutions:

1. Option d.

2. None follows. Option d.

3. Let both the thick candle and the thin candle consist of 12 units length. So, the thick candle burns at a rate of 2 units per hour and the thin candle burns at a rate of 3 units per hour. Let x hours pass before the given situation be met.

(12 – 2x) = 2(12 – 3x)

6 – x = 12 – 3x

x = 3 hours. Option b.

4. (2x – 6)/3x = 4/9

18x – 54 = 12x

x = 9. Option c.

5. 100y + x – 20 = 2(100x + y)

100y + x – 20 = 200x + 2y

98y – 199x = 20

Only option b gives the units place digits to be the same. So, option b.

6. Option d.

7. (750 + 450 – 1000) = 200. Option b.

8. Option b.

9. Option b. The middle number is the product of the two numbers in the row above it.
