5. Option d is perfect. Option a is not what the passage suggests. It states that men speculate and nothing beyond that. Option b is not correct as the author does not mention it anywhere. S/he merely says that the scientific theories change frequently. Option c tells us that we should resign to the fact that what has to happen will happen which is contrary to the statement ‘If we refuse to … from the human race’. Option d is a part of the statement that has been given in the passage when it says ‘… worth living in other respects…’
